Ottawa, November 24, 2011 – Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that Jenn Tregale of Calgary has been named head coach of Synchro Canada’s 2012 Junior National Team that will represent the country at the 2012 FINA World Junior Championships, September 26-30, 2012.
Jenn Tregale, head coach of the Calgary Aquabelles since 2004, was the coach of the 2011 Junior National Team who took part in the U.A.N.A. Pan American Synchronized Swimming Championships in Montreal, August 2011. Assisted by Maude Pelchat and Johana Vasquez, Jenn Tregale lead Canada to a golden sweep by winning goal medals in the solo, duet, team and combo events.
“The 2012 FINA World Junior Championships will be very important in the preparation of the future of our National Team program as we will start a new quadrennial on the road to the 2016 Olympic Games”, said Catherine Gosselin-Després, Synchro Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Many of the athletes who will be part of this junior team may also be representing Canada at the next Olympic Games after those in London. We believe that Jenn Tregale, with her great international experience, her technical skills and her creativity, will bring the progression of those future Canadian Olympians to a new level.”
Jenn Tregale was also one of Synchro Canada’s 2010 Junior National Team assistant coaches for the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships Team where Canada won three bronze medals. She has more than 20 years coaching experience in the sport and is currently completing her level 4 N.C.C.P. certification. She was the Junior National Team head coach at the Pan Am Junior Championships in 2009, the National B Team head coach at the 2008 Swiss Open as well as an assistant coach with the National Junior Team at the 2007 U.S. Open Championships. Jenn Tregale participated as an apprentice coach at the FINA World Junior Championships in 1993 as well as the Commonwealth Games and FINA World Aquatic Championships in 1994.
Synchro Canada’s 2012 Junior National Team athlete pool will be selected following the 2012 Canadian Open Championships, which will be held May 1-6, 2012, in Victoria, B.C., and a training camp.
