Ottawa, November 24, 2011 – Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that Jenn Tregale of Calgary has been named head coach of Synchro Canada’s 2012 Junior National Team that will represent the country at the 2012 FINA World Junior Championships, September 26-30, 2012.

Jenn Tregale, head coach of the Calgary Aquabelles since 2004, was the coach of the 2011 Junior National Team who took part in the U.A.N.A. Assisted by Maude Pelchat and Johana Vasquez, Jenn Tregale lead Canada to a golden sweep by winning goal medals in the solo, duet, team and combo events.

“The 2012 FINA World Junior Championships will be very important in the preparation of the future of our National Team program as we will start a new quadrennial on the road to the 2016 Olympic Games”, said Catherine Gosselin-Després, Synchro Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Many of the athletes who will be part of this junior team may also be representing Canada at the next Olympic Games after those in London. We believe that Jenn Tregale, with her great international experience, her technical skills and her creativity, will bring the progression of those future Canadian Olympians to a new level.”

Jenn Tregale was also one of Synchro Canada’s 2010 Junior National Team assistant coaches for the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships Team where Canada won three bronze medals. She has more than 20 years coaching experience in the sport and is currently completing her level 4 N.C.C.P. certification. A New Season has Begun!

On November 6th, 2011, the Calgary Winter Club held the first event of the season for Wildrose with a transitions meet. Around 80 girls competed in this event from ages 7 to 15.

The Calgary Aquabelles were present at this meet and did very well. They had four swimmers place in the top 6 in the 10-and-Under category. In the 12-and-Under category, five of their swimmers placed in the top 20 and in the 13-15 age group, three swimmers placed in the top 10!

A job well done all!

The next event will be the City of Calgary Figures Meet, to be held on November 26 at the Talisman Centre.

Parent/Daughter Day Makes Big Splash!

On Saturday October 22, many smiles could be seen in the pool, as our daughters got to swim with one of their parents, mainly the dads.

Beautiful, and daring, entries into the pool were made, some not so pointed toe ballet legs, and the popular “Pretty Lady” were abound at this popular and fun event.

The girls got to show off their skills and athleticism as many parents were left hanging on to the sides in wonder of their daughters.

The parents got into the spirit with gelled hair, flowered caps and even life jackets as they took to the water and swam a routine with their child. A few sore muscles were reported the next day!
