Calgary Aquabelles

The Juniors and Carly H were at the Canadian Open last week in Quebec City.  Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches for their great performances!  Here is a summary of the results:

Junior Team Finals

• Dark Elegance Team - 1st in routine and championship
• Gladiator Team - 6th in routine and 7th in championship

COSSC Combo Finals

• Disco Combo - 1st and the Make Up Forever Artistic Award
• Vegas Combo - 5th

Junior Duet Finals

• Slavin/Zawadiuk - 2nd in routine and championship
• McKenzie/Wong - 3rd in routine and 4th in championship
• McLean/Lauf - 7th in routine and championship
• Sami-Bacon/Titov - 11th in routine (preswimmer for finals)

Junior Solo Finals

• Kali Wong - 1st in routine and 2nd in championship
• Valerie Titov - 12th in routine (preswimmer for finals)

2008 and 2012 Canadian Synchronized Swimming Olympian Élise Marcotte joined the Calgary Aquabelles athletes for an inspirational three days of training and mentorship. Élise worked with coaches and athletes to enhance basic technical elements and routines of the participants. She also shared her experiences and tips that she has learned throughout her career.

Brooklyn, one of our 12U athletes noted:

“It made me feel so important to be in the same water as an Olympian!  
It’s not every day you get to swim with someone who has been to the  
Olympics, and she went twice!!!  She taught us so much.  She inspired  
me because she had to work really hard to get to the Olympics  
herself.  The best part of her visit was getting her autograph and a  
picture with her!”
