AQUAGO! PROGRAM

AquaGO!

The Calgary Aquabelles are pleased to introduce AquaGO!, a nation-wide grassroots foundation program for artistic swimming in Canada and is the launching pad for all other programs delivered by Canada Artistic Swimming. It is an opportunity for children as young as age 5 to have fun, develop aquatic literacy, learn the basics of artistic swimming and develop basic physical and athletic skills in and out of the water.

AquaGO! deliverables:

  • Introduce new ways to move in and out of water
  • Develop physical and aquatic literacy
  • For all abilities, skill levels and participants
  • Provide fitness and health benefits for life
  • Develop teamwork skills
  • Ideal for boys and girls age 5 – 9 who are between swimming levels or waiting to meet an age requirement
  • No previous experience needed

Program Details:

Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton

Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

13 weeks starting March 5 to June 6, 2019

2019 Winter/Spring AquaGO!

PRE-COMPETITIVE

The Calgary Aquabelles offer multiple levels of programming. Whether you are interested in just dipping your toes in the water of artistic swimming or looking for next level training, we have a spot for you.

The Calgary Aquabelles Pre-Competitive program is perfect for girls and boys interested in just trying the sport. Learn the fundamentals and meet some new people without an extensive commitment.

In order to participate in the Pre-Competitive program, your child must be:

  • comfortable in deep water
  • able to submerge while holding their breath
  • able to swim two lengths
  • able to tread water for 20 seconds

This program is suitable for ages 7 and up.

Each session includes a final Watershow for parents.

The Pre-Competitive program runs in the Fall, Winter and Spring. We offer swimmers the choice of training weekly or biweekly at various locations. Check out a pool near you.

SEMI-COMPETITIVE

Offering swimmers a biweekly training program that runs from fall to spring, our Semi-Competitive program is a great way to be in the sport. Teams even compete at a few local meets.

This program offers swimmers biweekly training at 4 hours a week. artistic swimming skills grow with the regular training and team bonding is strong.

To participate in this program, your child must be:

  • comfortable in deep water
  • able to submerge while holding their breath
  • able to swim two lengths
  • able to tread water for 20 seconds

This program is suitable for ages 7 and up.

Session Dates: Thursday September 6, 2018 to Saturday June 15, 2019

Days off will be given for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Family Day, and March Break (TBD)

COMPETITIVE PROVINCIAL STREAM

The Competitive Provincial Stream program is the perfect place for your young athlete to learn the sport of artistic swimming. You will be amazed at how quickly their skills will progress and their confidence grows. Building new friendships with teammates is the icing on the cake.

The competitive program runs from September to June, which allows for the time to develop and prepare a team routine to perform at competitive meets. The competitive meets are the highlight of the year, allowing the swimmers to showcase all they’ve learned and trained for. These athletes all compete in local, regional, provincial and inter-provincial competitions.

Every athlete will participate on a team in the competitive program. Some may be selected for duet or solo routines on top of the team routines.

Swims out of Inglewood Pool and Repsol Centre:

  • comfortable in deep water
  • able to submerge while holding their breath
  • able to swim two lengths
  • able to tread water for 20 seconds

Provincial Stream Schedule:

10 and Under & Novice at Inglewood Pool:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday 4:30 – 7:00 pm

11 and 12:

  • Monday and Tuesday 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Inglewood Pool
  • Wednesday (after January) 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Inglewood Pool
  • Thursday 4:30 – 6:30 pm at H/W School of Ballet
  • Friday 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Inglewood Pool or Repsol

13 – 15:

  • Monday 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Inglewood Pool
  • Tuesday 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Repsol
  • Wednesday (after January) 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Inglewood Pool

COMPETITIVE NATIONAL STREAM

The National Stream for artistic swimming is geared for athletes interested in a high-performance competitive level. The National Stream competes and attends meets across the country, against other high level athletes. They train out of the water with fitness and yoga trainers to increase flexibility and build strength.

To be part of the Calgary Aquabelles National Stream, swimmers must be experienced artistic swimmers who honed their synchronized swimming skills through participation and success at the Provincial level or with other clubs. These athletes desire to take their swimming to the next level by entering this high-performance competitive field. Every athlete will participate on a team in the competitive program. Some may be selected for duet or solo routines on top of the team routines.

This program is suitable for ages 12 and up and swims out of Repsol Centre.

National Stream Schedule:

13 – 15:

  • Monday through Thursday 3:45 – 6:30 pm
  • Friday 5:30 – 8:00 am
  • Sunday 9:00 – 1:00 pm

Junior & Senior:

Same as 13 – 15 with additional swim on Tuesday 5:30 – 8:00 am
