Whether you are new to artistic swimming or have already gotten your feet wet and are interested in learning more about the Calgary Aquabelles or joining our Club, following is some general information that will get you going in the right direction:

- how to initiate the process of becoming a member of the Calgary Aquabelles
Our Club is always interested in new families and welcome all athletes – boys and girls, who are interested in the sport of artistic swimming. We offer the following programs:
- Summer camps run out of MNP Sport Centre and coached by our own Aquabelles coaches
- visit MNP Sport Centre Sport Camps to register
- Pre-competitive sessions that run in the fall, winter and spring
- no experience necessary but must be a confident swimmer in deep water and be able to tread water
- these sessions are currently based out of Inglewood Pool (more locations might be offered in the future)

- Classic Competitive for ages 7 – 18 years old
- this program runs from September – June
- competitions are held provincially – generally 4/5 competitions attended each season
- National Competitive for ages 13 – 20 years old

- competitions are held nationally across Canada – generally 4/5 competitions attended each season

AQUAGO! PROGRAM
AquaGO!
The Calgary Aquabelles are pleased to introduce AquaGO!, a nation-wide grassroots foundation program for artistic swimming in Canada and is the launching pad for all other programs delivered by Canada Artistic Swimming. It is an opportunity for children as young as age 5 to have fun, develop aquatic literacy, learn the basics of artistic swimming and develop basic physical and athletic skills in and out of the water.
AquaGO! deliverables:
- Introduce new ways to move in and out of water
- Develop physical and aquatic literacy
- For all abilities, skill levels and participants
- Provide fitness and health benefits for life
- Develop teamwork skills
- Ideal for boys and girls age 5 – 9 who are between swimming levels or waiting to meet an age requirement
- No previous experience needed
Program Dates:
- Due to COVID 19 regulations, this program was not offered in the 2021/2022 season. Please check back for 2022/2023 program dates.
PRE-COMPETITIVE
The Calgary Aquabelles offer multiple levels of programming. Whether you are interested in just dipping your toes in the water of artistic swimming or looking for next level training, we have a spot for you.
The Calgary Aquabelles Pre-Competitive program is perfect for girls and boys interested in just trying the sport. Learn the fundamentals and meet some new people without an extensive commitment.
In order to participate in the Pre-Competitive program, your child must be:
- comfortable in deep water
- able to submerge while holding their breath
- able to swim two lengths
- able to tread water for 20 seconds
This program is suitable for ages 7 and up.
Each session includes a final Watershow for parents.
2023-24 SESSION DATES, LOCATION & COST:
For the 2023-24 season the Aquabelles will be offering a mix and match option for the pre-competitive program. Families will be able to register for the days of the week that work best for them. Registration can be for a minimum of 1 day per week to a maximum of 3 days per week. Select the day or days your swimmer would like to attend and add them to your cart.
Once we have confirmed your registration you will receive a follow up email to complete your swimmer’s membership with our sport’s governing bodies, Alberta Artistic Swimming (AAS) and Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS). You will be sent a link to their online registration program. There will be an additional charge of approximately $38, to complete this process. This membership is good for the entire 2023-24 season.

NOVICE COMPETITIVE
This program is for athletes 11 and older that are new to competitive Artistic Swimming. Athletes compete provincially against athletes from other clubs/cities who are also in their first year competitive, attending 4-5 competitions in the year.
This program currently trains out of MNP and Inglewood pools.
CLASSIC COMPETITIVE
The Classic Competitive Program is the perfect place for your young athlete to learn and develop in the sport of artistic swimming. You will be amazed at how quickly their skills will progress and their confidence grows. Building new friendships is icing on the cake.
The Classic Competitive program runs from September to June, which allows for time to develop and prepare a team routine to perform at competitions. There are typically 4-5 competitions per season where the swimmers showcase what they have learned and trained for. Competitions are held in cities across the province, including Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge. In addition, experienced Classic Competitive athletes typically attend one competition per season in Manitoba, Saskatchewan or BC.
Every athlete will participate on a team in the competitive program. Some may be selected for duet or solo routines on top of team routines. Teams are structured by age and skill level, with the following levels being available:
- 10&Under – for athletes 10 and younger. Athletes may be new the the sport, or can have previous recreational or competitive experience.
- Novice – for athletes 11 and older that are new to competitive Artistic Swimming.
- 11-12 – for athletes 11-12 years of age with previous competitive Artistic Swimming experience.
- 13-15 Classic – for athletes 13-15 years of age with previous competitive Artistic Swimming experience.
- Junior Classic – for athletes 16-19 years of age with previous competitive Artistic Swimming experience.
The program currently swims out of MNP and Inglewood Pools. Athletes joining this program as a 10&Under or Novice athlete must be:

NATIONAL COMPETITIVE
The National Competitive program is for athletes interested in and committed to a high performance competitive level. Athletes in National Competitive attend and compete at competitions across the country against other high-level athletes. Top performers may also have the opportunity to compete internationally.
To be eligible for the Calgary Aquabelles National Competitive program, athletes must be experienced artistic swimmers who honed their artistic swimming skills through participation and success at the Classic Competitive level or with another club. These athletes desire to take their artistic swimming skills to the next level by entering this high-performance competitive program. Every athlete will participate on a team in the National Competitive program. Some may be selected for duet or solo routines on top of team routines.
This program is suitable for ages 12 and up and swims out of MNP Sport Centre.
